What is Surveyor ?
Have you ever wondered how maps are created? These are questions for a surveyor. Surveyors measure and draw what the earth's surface looks like.
Surveyors do different types of work. Some measure land, air space, and water areas. They also define air space for airports. In addition, they measure construction and mineral sites.
Surveyors measure distances, directions, and angles between points and elevations of points, lines, and contours on, above, and below the Earth’s surface.
In the field, they select known survey reference points and determine the precise location of important features in the survey area using specialized equipment.
Surveyors also research legal records, look for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyze data to determine the location of boundary lines.
Surveyors also record their results, verify the accuracy of data, and prepare plots, maps, and reports.
Surveyors who set up boundaries must be licensed by the State in which they work.
